Agenda

Location Note:

All Consortium meeting sessions will be held at Reid Hall, 4 Rue Chevreuse, 75006. This charming property was first used as a porcelain factory in the mid-eighteenth century. In 1964, the property was bequeathed to Columbia University, and has since seen lectures by such notable French intellectuals as Roland Barthes, Jacques Derrida and Simone de Beauvoir.

Reid Hall is a pleasant walk for those staying in the Montparnasse area. For others arriving by Paris Metro, the Vavin station is a short distance to our location. As you turn off blvd Montparnasse onto the Rue Chevreuse, the door to Reid Hall is located about half way down the street on the left. Push open the door, enter the foyer and the receptionist at the desk on the left will direct you to our meeting room, the Grand Salon.

Friday evening from dusk to dawn:
Tonight’s Fête de la Musique is a special chance to taste Parisian culture.  The French take every opportunity for a celebration and this summer solstice event takes place annually on the longest day of the year. Musicians from all over the world (both pro and amateur) perform free concerts on streets and venues across the country, filling the city with sounds of everything from blues to Brahms to Bossa nova. It’s the one night when officially anyone can play music all night long without fear of censure. The fun is in the wandering and discovering, however, so as not to miss your favorites: Rock acts usually play in the Place de la République, indie bands at the Place Denfert-Rochereau, and classical orchestras in the grand courtyard of the Palais Royal.

Au revoir jusqu'à l'année prochaine!
